The Winfield Lakes neighborhood is a fast growing and continually developing community. Though this growth is positive, through it, some challenges have been presented. One of these challenges was providing families with young children a location to play outside within the boundaries of the District.
In early 2020 the Directors of Fort Bend County MUD 24 (the District) began the process of solving this challenge. In conjunction with the Winfield Lakes Homeowners Association (WFLHOA), through a private-public partnership, they were able to reimagine an existing park infrastructure. Through this collaboration, the project commenced to build a park that caters to young children. As a result, the Emerald Springs Park at Winfield Lakes was created. It is located at 1906 Hawthorne Brook Ln, Fresno TX.
On Saturday, June 26, 2021, members of the community joined the District and the WFLHOA for a grand opening event. Emerald Springs Park is a great example of the positive impact local government and residents can have on a community when they work together. As this neighborhood and community continue to grow, Fort Bend County MUD 24 remains dedicated to overcoming challenges facing the developing District in a responsible manner.
Thank you to LJA Engineering for designing and managing the development of the new park, Allen Boone Humphries Robinson, LLP for their legal guidance, Municipal District Services, and Touchstone District Services for coordinating the grand opening. Thank you to Commissioner Grady Prestage for visiting and to Fresno Fire for joining our event and teaching the kids about fire safety. A very special thank you to the Winfield Lakes Homeowners Association for the landscaping and ongoing maintenance of Emerald Springs Park.
